Legal Services Office - what we do summary

Advisory

The Legal Services Office provides practical legal advice in respect of the day to day activities of the College which is intended to enable College Officers to make informed decisions on behalf of the College.

Freedom of Information

The Legal Services Office processes requests for information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the FOI Act). For more information on the College's obligations under the FOI Act, please refer to our Freedom of Information.

All queries in relation to Freedom of Information requests should be directed to foi@imperial.ac.uk

Data Protection

If your query relates to Data Protection and/or requests for access to personal data under the Data Protection Act 2018, in the first instance you should refer to our web pages on Data Protection.
To make a subject access request to see your personal data held by the College you will need to complete an Application Form for Subject Access which can be found on our Subject Access page.

OIA Complaints, Student Discipline Cases and Assessments of Fitness to Practise Medicine

The Legal Services Office deals with student complaints made to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (the OIA) once internal College procedures have been exhausted. For more information on the OIA please see the OIA website.

Standard Form Documentation

One of the aims of the Legal Services Office is to develop, where appropriate to do so, standard form legal documentation for use throughout the College. Who to Contact First in Respect of Certain Matters

A number of College Departments already provide support and assistance in respect of legally-related matters.
